REALTOR® Foundation: RI Awards 3rd Quarter Grants

Warwick, RI – August 29, 2019 -- REALTOR Foundation: Rhode Island has announced the recipients of the Foundation’s third-quarter grants. Five thousand dollars was disbursed, split evenly between Sojourner House, an organization committed to ending domestic and sexual abuse, and Amos House which provides social services to more than 15,000 people each year and manages Rhode Island’s largest soup kitchen.

Sojourner House will use the funds to support their Trafficking Housing Empowerment Immigration Advocacy Project, better known as the THEIA Project.  The THEIA Project is the state’s only shelter and supportive housing program for victims of human trafficking. Since its inception in 2016, the THEIA Project has served 76 victims. 

Amos House will use the grant to help fund a $5000 construction project to build a new front porch for a residence which provides supportive housing for three families served by Amos House.

Now in its 20th year, the REALTOR® Foundation: Rhode Island has disbursed more than $100,000 — $48,515 through its Troop Support Task Force and another $51,600 through its general fund. Past grants have been used to repair homes for low-income and disabled homeowners; support emergency financial assistance programs; provide social services, emergency food and outreach to at-risk residents and children; and provide memberships and monthly fees for those who cannot afford services.
